"I realized that even if I spoke perfect French, I'd never be a true Parisian, but the Left Bank was as close as I'd ever get. Here, on these narrow cobblestone streets lined with venerable bookstores and sidewalk cafes overflowing with intellectuals and artists, I felt a connection to the city's rich literary and artistic heritage."

"I marveled at how the metro magically transported me from one world to another. One minute I was in the quiet oasis of my apartment, the next I was hurtling underground, surrounded by a kaleidoscope of Parisians going about their day.  Students with backpacks, businessmen in suits, chattering grandmothers, all united in this subterranean network.  The metro wasn't just a mode of transportation, it was a microcosm of Parisian life."
